Fo­cus­ing refers to a fam­ily of in­tro­spec­tive tech­niques whose aim is to ac­cess one’s “gut” or “Sys­tem 1″ feel­ings. Archetyp­i­cally, at­ten­tion is fo­cused on sen­sa­tions within the body un­til one can find a satis­fac­tory ver­bal la­bel for the un­der­ly­ing feel­ing which can sub­se­quently be pro­cessed, or some­thing. Fo­cus­ing draws in name from the book and tech­nique by psy­chol­o­gist, Eu­gene Gendlin, and since his in­tro­duc­tion, some have de­vel­oped their own vari­a­tions [1].
