Yes, this is rather a problem. So far I’ve been okay though. Spoiler tags would be nice.
On the other hand, if you’re a spoiler hound, it just saves time.
I wonder how hard it would be to make a firefox app that automatically spoilers and Rot13s Rot13 text.
Let us know if you make or find one. My current solution is inconvenient.
“There’s a Firefox addon for that.” For reading: Quick ROT Ciphers; for reading and writing: Leet Key.
If I need to write a chunk of rot13 I’ll either do it in vim or using http://rot13.com .
I meant something where it checks to see if it’s in rot13, and if it is replaces it with a “show text” button or something.
Gel ink, onyx. Or green? Bar KY clerk, Cheryl.
Basilisk skill >.<
That happens, but it’s pretty rare. I’d guess 10%.
rot13 is effective at is principal purpose of discouraging spoilers.
That doesn’t much help me now does it? ;)
I would however be interested how many LW readers eventually pick up rot13. Anyone else have this experience?
I, knowing that picking up rot13 was a possibility, have made an effort to not actually read it, ever. As soon as I see what looks like rot 13 I avert my eyes and I rot13 the text.
Same here.
I do the same thing
Me too.
