And my experience with Glowfic folks is that, if I ask them to explain the reference, they tell me a 10-20 minute story “skipping most of the details“ and then explain that wasn’t the story they wanted to tell, that was just necessary for “worldbuilding”, before they can even given the 1-paragraph explanation of the story they’re making a reference to.
Why, I’m seeing a Marion Wheeler quote used in a LessWrong parody comment the very same day I read There Is No Antimemetics Division on scp website. I didn’t expect it to be that well known.
