Indeed, the “LessWrong diaspora” quite harmed this project—we still haven’t fully recovered from having the community split as much as it did, even though things have been improving a bit on that front more recently.
I won’t claim to be deep on lesswrong lore but I don’t understand what this means. As far as I can tell (from my admittedly very limited perspective) the only actual contributions to the world this community has had is to help people with self improvement and the EA movement.
Neither of these are harmed at all by people reading different blogs or joining different communities that share the same values. Can you explain a bit more for us without context on what harm you’re even referring to? I think i’m missing a lot here

My feedback on your example:
This is the same game played by two married people wanting to have an affair right? That seems like a version of the game with much more data available and isn’t as far out of people’s lived experience as something like Jeffrey Epstein’s conspiracy. It also simplifies the game to a two player game while maintaining the same core challenges and mechanics as far as I can tell
