I find that it is obviously bad form to do this, of course, and would be immediately used by the worst parts of the internet commentariat the instant they found out about it. There should not be a norm of concluding the argument with your statement and things being over just because you say so. As you surely know, the internet already has a norm of just walking away from discussions, and you can always just walk away, but no one should give your walking away special status (which includes you.).
Now, it’s perfectly acceptable to decide to stop. We always do at some point. Perhaps a better way of doing this sort of thing, is just to write words in your exit that you truly believe can standup for themselves, and then walk away, without making a point that you are doing some special thing.
Even if they were somehow extremely beneficial normally (which is fairly unlikely), any significant risk of going insane seems much too high. I would posit they have such a risk for exactly the same reason -when using them, you are deliberately routing around very fundamental safety features of your mind.
