I largely agree with this. I suspect there’d be a gap where individuals step in before governments (or cartels or companies or other large organizations) do so, but that might not last that long.
But this doesn’t really affect the outcome. Most of the incentives towards causing all sorts of online disruption remain.
Appreciate the update. Seems notable that, even as we’re <2.5 years from Daniel’s median for TED-AI, Daniel’s and Eli’s predictions haven’t drawn closer together. (Taking the ratio of their median times to TED-AI rather than the difference, the predictions have been growing apart over the past couple years.) Are there particular milestones that you expect to resolve the differences?
