What happened to the fan fic “already optimised” which was posted yesterday? I was halfway through reading it and decided to save the rest for later. Now that link goes to a 404 page
When I try and open it from my history I also get a 404 error.
J Bostock is suggesting that LLM written material might have been removed. I strongly suspect that “Already Optimised” was not written by an LLM from how it read.
That’s odd. I really did think the post was AI generated when I saw it. Perhaps mod-deleted posts show up differently to rejected ones (and this one did end up on the front page) or perhaps the author was politely asked to delete it, and then did without a trace, or perhaps it was deleted for reasons unrelated to whether it was AI or not.

I read that fanfic yesterday (and enjoyed it).

The texture of the text definitely struck me as LLM written, but I’m guessing it was an LLM expansion of a human-written outline.
I did quite like it despite the LLM writing though.
I may be remembering the name wrong and have picked out entirely the wrong person, but I think the author of that fan fic was @Florian_Dietz.
Yeah, was https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/wHpchCq6gxJHHdfD5/already-optimized but has since been deleted, I think by the author since it’s not in the moderation log.
(it works for me right now)
Thank you! Looks like it was only temporarily down…
My guess is that it was LLM written and got taken down for not being clear about that.
I can’t see a fanfic with that name in the moderation log (scroll down to “Rejected Posts”).
