I was trying to say that human intuitions imply that true pleasure is in diverse experiences (see, e.g. Yudkowsky’s Fun Theory sequence). Unfortunately, I struggle to understand how one can quantize the utility of existence for armies of humans. The closest thing to a quantitative measure with which I’ve come up is this experiment and efficiency of mankind solving hard problems.
Under the value system from the experiment, your value wouldn’t be diminished by the fact that you were copied, since you and the copy could be prompted with different problems and make progress on both (or try different approaches to the same problem and make more progress than in isolation).
