X-reasons: Updating your beliefs for epistemic reasons
Y-reasons: Updating your beliefs for pragmatic reasons
Z-reasons: Updating your expressed beliefs for signaling reasons
Would it be fair/accurate to say?
X-reasons: Simulacrum Level 1
Y-reasons: Any level depending on what pragmatism calls for
Z-reasons: Simulacrum level 3 or 4
My read is that simulacra levels are more about the reasons we say things than the reasons we believe them.
I think this distinction is a bit muddled.
Many of the articles for instance imply that Simulacra level 3 orientation is not only one in which you say things that you think have tribal affiliation, but in which you’re no longer tracking the object level truth, only your tribal affiliation.
Good call out. Thanks.
That distinction would only matter on Levels 2 and 4 right? Since 1 and 3 are saying things you believe to be true....?
