I find the thought of some of my dead friends having better lives somewhere else comforting, and it seems this might be translatable into a preference (though I haven’t tried yet).
No it doesn’t. Thinking ‘Many Worlds’ must change your preferences at all probably means you do not understand the concept.
In this particular instance the mistake is in counting worlds instead of measuring.
