The main criteria for frontpage-ness is Timelessness (i.e. it’ll still make sense to read 5-10 years from now. The opening of the post was somewhat news driven. Overall it mostly seemed to doing an analysis that’ll probably be relevant for a while, hence frontpaging, but, it was at least a counterconsideration)
(It’s also a bit culture-war-y in a way that’s not a strong dealbreaker but is a couple points on the scale)
