We lack moves with likely non-negligible impacts on AI Safety. A key question is whether we can find dignified moves that a least seem to go in the right direction.
My guess is as a cause area it would be fairly easy to rally people behind (very clear problems, even in the present day; countless viral posts complaining about it which indicates some amount of unmet demand), so it may be worth aiming for if you value having a larger chance of getting tangible results in.
My guess would be that the impact this directly has on AI Safety is negligible, and we should focus more on how it impacts the economy and such.

It’s also a good foundation to later argue to restrict other AI uses if you already pushed through successful regulation.
