Yeah, I remember reading it. I gave it a small-upvote. I think it’s a reasonably point but at least for me doesn’t really feel like it explains much of what seems to me most important about navigating these kinds of situations, though it does seem like a relevant piece of the puzzle. I would be surprised if it meaningfully “resolved” the debate, or played that large of a role in things dying down, but I wasn’t around at the time, so am not confident.
That was my memory/assessment, but of course I’d be biased in that direction. I guess the only evidence I can easily point out (for a large role in things dying down) is that Alicorn was tracking all of the top-level posts on the topic, and nothing came after mine. I’d be interested in anyone else’s take, if they were around at the time and remember this drama. I guess @Roko should remember, since it he was centrally involved (and wrote the comment that triggered the main debate).
