Working on quality is great. But it can also be a little escapist. You know how to improve this part of the thing, so you do that. What if the thing (a software company, say) works like a pipe, whose throughput is bottlenecked on the narrowest section, and you spend all your time widening a different section of the pipe which is already wider than the bottleneck? I’m not saying this perspective is always right, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
