I find it somewhat humorous. It sounds like a character in a 19th century novel, e.g. Jane Austen. Exclamations have mostly disappeared in postmodern writing, as they were replaced with things like ironic detachment. It’s such an entrenched practice that I right now have an aversion to using the exclamation point.
I find it rather obnoxious when someone replies “But don’t you think—” when I have just told them what I think.
