Drill holes around the periphery that the silicone can ooze through so that there is a mechanical connection rather than adhesive. You can flatten the ooze to make it neater/more resistant to pulling out.

I did see your comment on FB! I’m still thinking about what I want to try next. I’m worried that silicone with your method would tear, though.
