I mostly agree that this distinction is plausibly indicative, and the following is more like a nitpick: while I don’t have much experience with kids or with fishing, I don’t find parading the fish about for attention while alive that unusual? Don’t normal people do that with normally caught fish all the time? I agree that the repeated tormenting of the same fish is unusual, and indicative.
