I just use plain markdown, so it’s not always clear whether the expression works or not.

In that case, I don’t think there is currently an easy way to preview it. I will add an issue to our GitHub and see whether I can get around to that soon. Seems good to throw an error when you try to save a post with invalid LaTeX.
Or a warning, rather than an error.
