It’s not Gwern. Gwern has tried and failed to get LLMs to write like he does:
I’ve struggled for years to imagine this, ever since scaling started for real in 2020, and I failed to get productivity out of chatbot-tuned LLMs, with their creatively-stunted endlessly repetitive prose. Instead, while lagging behind on creativity and insight into me, I’ve watched them become ever better at coding and cybersecurity hacking. And the open-weight models are even more so—benchmaxxed, and useless to me. We increasingly lived in a world where LLMs were powerless to augment or help me, but ever more powerful to replace or hurt me. …
My design goal [for the “Gwern Branwen Transformer” (GBT)] is a 100× increase in productivity; what would it take for a GA to make me 100× more productive as a writer or thinker? … What would that look like for me? Roughly, I think it would look like a GA enabling me to produce ~1–3 worthwhile writings a day which are ~100% written by it without loss of quality. … A GBT-written essay could also be better than the essay I would have written, by simply doing much more work, and doing things I would not have done
Gwern has neither gotten substantially more productive nor worsened in quality in LLM-esque ways.
I hope it is not a faux pas to guess who this is: but this sounds like Gwern to me.
