The question is how to handle mixed text. Handwritten that was then improved by AI suggestions or eg Grammarly. Or AI text that was then heavily edited. Both will probably be flagged as 36% AI or something.
I liked the comparison to coding: We don’t ask which line is AI but if the feature works. I have fantasized about autoformalizing text into Lean programs that check the logic, but that’s if course not doable. But I am very much in favor of posts that do formalize things mathematically or run experiments and provide the code.
These days, to get there you’d of course use LLMs to do parts of the research, and bigger parts of the coding. And why not get help with the writing too?
