I think this is the clearest articulation of this problem I’ve seen. I think it helps me understand what was going on with Bad intent is a disposition, not a feeling and Assuming Positive Intent. (I think “Assuming Positive Intent” wasn’t quite talking about the same thing this post is talking about, but was heavily overlapping. I feel better able to think about the differences now)
I think I basically agree with everything written here as-stated, but will think for a bit and try to check/flesh-out my updated model.
I generally like the move of “talk about cost-benefit analyses” rather than arguing ‘shoulds’.
