Actually no, that’s not quite true. My first reaction, because it was a reaction to an earlier part of your post, was that there’s something incoherent about wanting to attract attention while also being embarrassed to post a link.
If anything I am more confident now than I was before. Being afraid to put yourself out there, being uncomfortable being seen, that’s not so healthy I think. But if you have self-esteem issues, I would probably recommend against posting on TikTok or even using TikTok.
I would like my videos to gain attention at the object level, and I am comfortable with that (though I am more interested in learning how to gain attention rather than in the attention itself: I do not want to become a famous TikToker). I would not care for a bunch of meta-level attention from LessWrongers picking through my videos with exacting fervor, looking to contradict or nitpick what I’ve written.
