And I’d like to suggest one of the slate star codex essays that had the biggest impact on how I think about politics and arguments—the important idea I took from it is thinking of their being a general factor of positive or negative feeling towards big concepts and seemingly irrelevant arguments are actually about making us feel better or worse towards that group:
