What is your model of how to fix Problems without Complaints at all?
If there are no complaints it’s hard to define problems and move on to solve them. If there are only complaints, nothing is solved either. It partly involves staying with the problem, regularly asking variants of “what do I need to make this better?” and various questions like that.
Complaint + (potential) Solution feels different to me to Complaint on its own. Is your friend Complaining by itself?
However sometimes Complaint is the only thing that can be done, if someone lacks a model of the problem, if it is a black box for example.
