I’m finding it quite annoying how ready people are to downvote short-form content.
If you have to think too much about what you post, then it kind of defeats the point, which is to let people share things that would be too much effort to write up properly.
Perhaps there should be a “not interested” button that makes you less likely to see content like that without downvoting it.
I ran into the same thing recently and found it really confusing. I’m fairly certain the same text would have been at-worst ignored and left at a neutral karma as a real post, but was judged more harshly as a “quick take”. I don’t understand it, and it does discourage me from posting anything that I don’t have time to perfect.
Also, as I look at your confusingly-downvoted quick takes, I wonder if I was also assumed to be an AI, since I used bold once and know where the footnote button is.
Some sympathy with the idea, but on net, reluctant to ask for additional voting complexity given the two leavers we already have.
Maybe a terse prelude, “Mind: throwaway short-form fwiw; don’t read if you like only polished things” (or whatever smarter thing one can put in such type of vein), could help a bit to manage expectations and limit downvoting just because one rightly chipped in a quick thought indeed?

What are examples of posts you think were highly downvoted and shouldn’t have been?

I also had a similar thought last month: For quick takes, people should be more conservative about downvoting beyond approx. −4
I am personally considering using thumbs up and thumbs down as a weak upvote/downvote

Isn’t this the whole point of quick takes? It would be annoying if every post re-explained that.
OP is worried about some comments in particular, maybe for that specific subset it’s warranted. But yes, it could become a nuisance if too common
