Intuitively it doesn’t seem possible to be wrong about one’s own current mental states. Imagine a patient complains to a doctor about having a terrible headache. The doctor replies: “You may be sure you are having a terrible headache, but maybe you are wrong and actually don’t have a headache at all.”
Of course it’s possible, at least in principle: the doctor could have connected all your neurons, that detect headache and generate thoughts about it, to another person’s neurons, that generate headache. Then you would be sure, that you are having a having a headache, but actually it is another person who is having a headache.
