Suppose you were working to create a ‘cure for cancer*‘. Is it worth ‘playing to win’ there, when that’s what’s at stake?
*Or better treatments for some types, get something that works there, then try it for other things that seem like they’d work, etc.
Most of the time, it’s not really worth it to play to win because there really isn’t anything of substance to get out of winning.
More broadly, when is it worth it? In general?
