Re-reading this post, I again feel that it is insightful reframing and the problem it addresses is critical to thinking about our world, and how the future will go.
However I dislike the last word.

This is claiming that this development of ever newer, richer, and more nuanced goals, is well, “wonderful”. But “wonderful” is relative to some specific value system. It might be wonderful, it might be horrifying, most likely it will be extremely weird.
I admit that if this development of a hierarchy of values progresses in a way that preserves and satisfies the values that arose earlier, it’s more likely that the higher levels will be weird and wonderful, rather than weird and horrifying.
