When it comes to using sortion, it would be interesting to have a system where the congress is normally elected and then the upper house which can either approve or reject a bill is made up via sortion.
Sortion seems to a more satisfactory way to create an upper house that’s independent of the political parties than UK’s system of lords and bishops.
Given that one state two votes for the senate seems very undemocratic given population differences it might also be a good way to replace the US senate.
I agree that that would be a good idea. But it would take a constitutional amendment, and politically that is really really hard. I’m trying to focus on proposals where I think that the chances of real progress within 10 years are over 1%.
