There’s an important assumption being made here, which is that we care about temperature in the room with the air conditioner and the temperature in other rooms in the house equally. This assumption is false, especially in group-house situations.
I propose that two-hose air conditioners be referred to as type C air conditioners, and single-hose as type D. (Types A and B being hoseless in-window units and evaporative coolers, of course, as we would not wish to imply that anyone was defecting against their housemates.)
