To conclude “AGI is coming, no point in having children” amounts to betting on death, giving up on believing in a human future. It kind of makes sense that an evolved creature would be inclined to cling to the belief in a future and live as if it were true despite evidence to the contrary; as irrationalities go, it’s quite adaptive.
