For you, where is the threshold between “this strategy is intellectually productive enough that I should mainly keep exploiting it” and “this strategy is productive, but not productive enough that I should feel wedded to it.”?
I guess in general I just use whatever cognitive strategy that comes naturally to me, and don’t try to exercise much conscious control over it. That seems to have worked well enough so far that I haven’t felt a need to do anything different. If subconsciously I’m doing some kind of explore/exploit tradeoff, it feels pretty opaque to the part of me that’s writing this...
