I appear to feel more ‘mild amnesia’ with ordinary emotional states than others. When happy, I will intuitively mispredict what I’ll think when sad, and it will intuitively feel like I’ve always felt happy and always will. Similarly when sad. As a mundane example, I will intuitively overestimate how much food I’ll want while hungry, but underestimate while full—to combat this I do something similar to the outside-view technique for the planning fallacy, by ignoring my current judgements and instead asking “How much food do I tend to eat? What food do I tend to like?”
