I think the idea is that one speaker got cut off by the other after having said “x+Sy=Sz”.
If this were Wikipedia, someone would write a rant about the importance of using typographically correct characters for the hyphen, the minus sign, the en dash, and the em dash ( - − – and — respectively).
Yeah, I understood that after about 10 seconds of confusion, which seems unnecessary.
