It remains to be seen what will happen with social media, but I would guess that (if the world is not transformed by AGI first) that we’ll see similar cultural adaptions. Modulo AGI, I expect that they people in 2050will be importantly less addicted to social media, or otherwise engaging in the social internet in ways that are more wholesome and healthy for them.
Though, of course, I don’t know what will happen with social media. And we might see vastly more compelling addictions arise that are untenable to resist (and then go extinct?).
