  So true, as someone who would be on the applicant side, I share same sentiment toward these AIs. I have extensively used them last year, to polish my writings, and every time, although they would still have most of my ideas down, I would feel like they took my voice away by twinkling one or two words…

  Now, I used them for grammar checks and nothing else. My exact prompt has been : “Do change anything, just do a grammar check”.

  This came, as I am actively looking into joining a frontier ai company safety team. although the incentives for these AI companies seem really encouraging, I have noticed I have an indifferent feeling when it comes to financial gains. Like, what excites me most, and makes me want to actually work in any AI safety, is the contribution, the constant rush of knowing that you may be closer to understand how this system works.
  I noticed I did not care about who is offer what, when I found myself pitching to someone to do volunteering work for them, all I want is just getting the resources and be in that environment.

  I am worried i am obsessing over this field.

  Thank you for sharing your thought as well. It is a relieve to know I am not the only one!
  
  Honestly, there is nothing wrong into using AI in some tasks nor that I am against it. Funny enough, I am part of those people who are constantly researching on how to improve LLM models. I just think when it comes to some things like : writing, it literally takes that voice away. No matter the instructions, the prompts or how well it is trained, it just can’t hide.
  
  So I advocate more to be selective for what to automate and what to manually do.

  Oh thank you for sharing your experience as well, and I completely relate on the motivational side. it is like the lack of authentic self takes off the motivation of creating cause it seems or sounds meaningless. But hey, I think your superpower is still there somewhere. I am not your audience, but I should also ask : when is the next piece coming out :_?
  
  A tip to get your human writing power, (What I have been doing) is writing off my PC and just lay out every thought on a paper and then after use AI-writing assistant if needed. Hope that would help in one way or another.
