Hi.
I’ve posted an article, and commented once, but still feel like I’m figuring things out here.
Thanks to everyone who is bolder in their contribution than I am.
Thank you! Meditation continues to be a great benefit for me.
Thank you so much for this! Dressing well is one of the factors that can increase opportunities of all sorts, and an area I need to work on.
I’ve found that practice that ‘feels too small to be useful’, is very helpful in building practiced skills, without triggering fear or akrasia.
Do real practice but on a small scale. Create an opportunity for repetition, which is where fluency can be learned.
Try to reduce the fear of failure or loss to the point where you can learn what works and what doesn’t without creating excessive emotional stress.
A related idea from Education theory is called Precision Teaching (http://www.fluency.org/), and is about measuring both speed and accuracy on many brief tests.
Thanks for the article, EvelynM
Why do you think adding butter to your cooking makes it unhealthy?
Thanks for doing this Adelene.
I’ve found similar sorts of positive affirmations helpful in my life. I think of them as a way of counteracting negative environmental messages (media, self-talk) with positive ones.
This site has quite a few tips for general improvement: http://theenergyproject.com/tips Some of them might be suitable for inclusion.
Horoscope-ifying posts sounds like a bite-sized writing practice. I can help with that.

Pearl’s blog http://www.mii.ucla.edu/causality/ may be a good place to ask for this sort of thing.
If you were starting over from scratch, what choice would you make? Sometimes we weight things we can’t change too much, and need to give ourselves permission to look at the situation with a fresh start.

I am, and I have invited two other people.
I’m the only confirmed attendee.
Thanks. Corrected.
The meat + beans + greens diet works well for me if I skip the beans. None of the book is rigorous.
I found lots of things to experiment with, in it.
Only two attended, but a complete success, ending with:
Thus let thy power, which like the truth Of nature on my passive youth Descended, to my ownward life supply Its calm - to one who worships thee, And every form containing thee, Whom, Spirit fair, thy spells did bind To fear himself, and love all human kind.

“Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.” Bertrand Russell

“I smile and start to count on my fingers: One, people are good. Two, every conflict can be removed. Three, every situation, no matter how complex it initially looks, is exceedingly simple. Four, every situation can be substantially improved; even the sky is not the limit. Five, every person can reach a full life. Six, there is always a win-win solution. Shall I continue to count?” Dr. Eliyahu M. Goldratt 1947- 2011
I noticed the distinction between wanting and liking as a result of my meditation practice. I began to derive great pleasure from very simple things, like the quality of an intake of breath, or the color combination of trees and sky.
And, I began to notice a significant decrease in compulsive wanting, such as for excess food, and for any amount of alcohol.
I also noticed a significant decrease in my startle reflex.
Similar results have been reported from Davidson’s lab at the University of Wisconsin. http://psyphz.psych.wisc.edu/
