I’m not sure what the best way is to add new data to an old debate—going back to post in the original thread means that only one person will see it—so I thought I’d post it here.
It also shows up in ‘Recent Comments.’ In general, I think it’s better to continue old conversations in the old spot, rather than disconnecting them.
On the other hand, a new comment is more likely to be seen if it’s in the current open thread. I’m not sure whether keeping a conversation in one place is more important.
Maybe a very specific conversation (such as giving a specific person advice) should be kept in one place, whereas a conversation of more general interest is inevitably going to be discussed repeatedly in different threads.
