I wrote the story to present a possible future back swan event that would have catastrophic societal impacts (even before achieving AGI/ASI)
It was meant to be passed on to decision-makers at the frontier AI labs and to scare them into slowing down or reorienting to Narrow AI.
Note that several have publicly endorsed the simulation hypothesis and to a lesser extent the possible existence of non-human sentience.
I shared it with some who might have been capable of passing it along. I’ve no confirmation of this.
