I don’t think I understand the gist of this essay. It sounds like you want to claim that it didn’t make someone “knowledgeable” to read (and retain?) the contents of books like that. Why not? It sounds knowledgeable to me.
Well see, it’s more like, according to this logic just reading those two books is enough to become knowledgeable which is true according to the definitions but by pure gut feelings, doesn’t that sound kinda wrong? Like, imagine if a person comes up to you and asks “How can I be knowledgeable?” Would you feel that saying “just finish these two books” is a good answer?
So yeah, it’s kinda just a battle in my mind between pure logic and common sense
