Another term for font smoothing (mentioned by Kevin) is antialiasing. Try a different browser as well—perhaps compare to IE or Chrome. Also, you could check out THIS? I run linux, but that’s what my quick web search got me.
Edit: I can’t tell if that is Vista or 7… I assumed 7 but maybe I was wrong. Just search around for font-smooting or anti-alias settings or whatever Win version you run and you should find some help.
