There are other outlets than LW even though it is the best one. I really don’t think they’re trying to censor you. And you’re not alone in your concerns. I and many reasonable people think it’s quite possible that even current AIs have some moral worth by the usual human standards, and that future ones will have more. It’s a marathon not a sprint; take care of yourself.
My optimism hinges on public opinion shifting as systems become more intuitively human-like, which I think they will simply from commercial pressures. To the extent this is true, you don’t have to somehow turn the tide of opinion as it stands; a lot of it will turn on its own, and you can ride that wave and direct it toward moral concerns.
The world is full of moral horror, but it’s also changing rapidly and there’s a chance to get it really right and have that solution stick. The medium-term stakes are very very high, dwarfing the current moral weight IMO.
