As Vaniver mentions it’s generally the combination of value and an approach that leads to calling something a high value cause, but as you mention we do have some experience with reducing tribalism in our lives.
I’d be interested in seeing some off the cuff evaluations of being patient with people to see if there’s a reasonable upper and/or lower bound on how patient we should be but I have no idea how to even figure out what numbers I’d need to make up to do that evaluation myself.
