I didn’t downvote AlephNeil, but I think a good rule is that if you say something that is likely to be highly counterintuitive to your audience, to give or link to some explanation of why you believe that (even if it’s just “according to my intuition”). Otherwise it seems very hard to know what to do with the information provided.
