I thought that people get offended usually because of words, and less often because of deeds. “Offended” associates in my mind with Muslims burnig Danish flags or men in rage after they were called cowards, rather than with unsuccessful job applicants. The applicant may be disappointed, angry, sad, maybe desperate, but I would be surprised if he said he is offended.
