I can’t really speak for other games, but in Salsa it’s pretty straightforward—you have to learn the steps, that might take longer than 5min. For me, it took a few classes. Then, it becomes muscle memory, and becomes fun. A bit of alcohol can help too. It’s possible to learn it more informally (less rigidly following the steps), but less so if your the lead. Once you learn the rules, then you can play around with them a bit and it stops being rigid.
