I understand that different groups and cultures have different communication norms. But after reading this essay, I’m more confused about how to communicate probabilities than before. I’m skeptical to which extent you can communicate effectively with another group by changing your communication style, when there are such fundamental differences in your thoughts on epistemology. I suspect that anything short of addressing or confronting those differences head-on won’t work.
