Noted, for what its worth this was written completely by hand and then edited by my wife—I know I have an idiosyncratic natural writing style akin to Hume/Woolf which needs untangling before public consumption & never considered it could end up LLM-y. I came here to earnestly suggest @Owain Mogford work with an LLM to improve the clarity and presentation of this post (& future research posts).
Generally, I’d really appreciate more technical language than “rig”, “dials”, etc..
Also, sharing code, even if scrappy, might help us understand what exactly was run!

that’s really funny, I recently read bits of Hume and Woolf and was shocked how LLM-y they sounded
The use of “genuinely” in the opening (and a few more times) definitely had me wondering.
