I think the benefits of even a bullshit job are also related to other people having jobs—even if you’re on sabbatical, your friends are probably working and unavailable during working hours (cf the research which suggests unemployed people’s happiness is higher at the weekends). I took some time off work and certainly found this to be an issue; I’m very extroverted and want to hang out with people a lot, more than most people do, and the combination of that and people mostly being busy during the day was difficult
