No mention of anti-natalism? One of my favorite bloggers has had a series of essays on the topic. I forget if it ever finished, but you can find the first four from here. David Benatar has a book on it from a utilitarian perspective, which is discussed among others at the Hoover Hog. There are other blogs completely dedicated to anti-natalism.
Interesting, I hadn’t heard of that. It does seem to require however that you think you yourself would have been better off not being born, or at least that most peole are. I’m personally extremely happy that I was born, and I think in a hypothetical future utopia, most people will be as well.
